Catherine Cuellar has deep Dallas roots and has long been a contributor to the local scene. She is a founder of the Oak Cliff-based La Reunion TX arts connective and a former city of Dallas Cultural Affairs
commissioner. And she escaped from the world of journalism and lesser employment to become executive director of the Dallas Arts District.
She will talk about the downtown centerpiece Thursday, Oct. 10, in kicking off the Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts Fall Salon Series.
The arts district will be a focus of other series offerings.
On Thursday, Nov. 14, Gabe Ritter, Hanley assistant curator of contemporary art at the Dallas Museum of Art, will discuss current DMA exhibitions.
And on Thursday, Dec. 12, Keith Cerney, general director and chief executive of the Dallas Opera, will talk about the opera’s 2013-2014 season, By Love Transformed, with supporting performances by opera vocalists.
The events will run from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Turner House, 401 N. Rosemont. Individual tickets: $15 for fine arts society members and students, $20 for non-members. Series tickets: $35 for members, $50 for non-members. Buy them at the door.
